The implication of Morality
Prepared by: Reo Paolo M. Uri

We have follow our question (what does it mean to be human?) and have found that it has enough us into an understanding of three areas of life, areas full of the richness and complexity of human life. What is significant of our present concern is that these three areas of human life necessarily have a moral dimension. Let us focus on each areas and consider the sense of morality implicit have.

Man's social existence, first of all, is rich with moral implication. As man exists in a family or in a community he faces challenges and demands from those societies. To be a human being in a family, for instance, means that you are a son or a daughter. As such you are expected to act in a certain way, you are challenged to acknowledge the existence of the other member of the family and to treat them in a certain way. As son and daughter you are called upon to respond in gratitude for what the family has given to you and to be responsible in your way for the fare of the family.

In a similar ways as man exists in friendship and in community he finds that demands are made of him. To be a friend is to acknowledge those demands and to responds to them. To be citizen of a community means that you fulfill your personality toward that community.
The conclusion of this consideration is clear to be human means to be social means to be confronted with mom obligations. Secondly, for a human being to look forward and to plans is likewise to in a normal world. If it is part of human life to grow and to achieve fulfillment then this growth is an inner law which must be acknowledge. I am faced with the obligation of bringing that potentiality for growth to its fullness, Since, for example, my human mind is pointed  toward development then I have the moral obligation. If I set before myself the goal of becoming successful in some way then I am faced with the obligation of doing what is necessary in order to be successful. Whenever I choose a goal I accept the obligation to the means, the action which will bring me to that goal. If man is intrinsically a goal, seeker then man's -life will necessarily be filled with the demands that these goals place upon him.

Thirdly, it is obvious that the presence of values in a truly human life necessarily entails a moral dimension for human life. If a value is truly important in itself it confronts one and demands an appropriate response. When moral values such a justice, loyalty and bravery are present in one's human life they necessarily impose a sense of moral obligation. They guide one into a response that should be made.
What has become obvious from these considerations is that basic human morality is not a separate part of life which man in vents and adds to his human existence. This basic human morality is very different from social connections which are arbitrarily required in a society. I may be forced to wear a certain style of clothes or to take a certain course in school but such social requirement are not examples of  basic human morality. There is no necessary reason why they be present in human life at all. The character of basic human morality is a rite different form such social conventions.
Our questions "What does it mean to be human?" has revealed that true morality plays as essential role in human existence and life would be basically in human without it. We have found morality is interwoven with the basic and meaning of all human existence.
